This oil painting explores the boundaries of society's perception of beauty and ugliness.
For this piece I warped my own face in two contrasting directions. The first painting portrays an idealized portrait of beauty - perfect features, big lips and doll-like skin. Then the opposite, my face is distorted to have acne, no makeup and asymmetrical features.
Through this duality I call attention to the stigma that only this impossible perfection is seen as worthy of value in contemporary society.
